Edo CJ Commissions Oredo Magistrate Court

BENIN CITY – The outgoing Chief Judge of Edo State, Hon. Justice Esohe Frances Ikponmwen, yesterday, commissioned the newly constructed Oredo Magistrate Court.

Commissioning the court built by Honourable Evbareke Jenkins Osunde led Oredo Local Government council, Hon. Justince Ikponmwen, said that litugants usually prefer taken their litigations to Magistrate Courts owing to its qick dispensation of Justice system.

“I know that the workload at Magistrate Court is usually high and people who are in need of Justice always find Magistrate Court good place to take their cases to because the jurisdiction of the court is supposed to be summary, she said.

She advised the people to have respect for the rule of law, adding that courts are used to ensure strict compliance of the people’s civil responsibility through its instrumentality of Justice

Justince Ikponmwen commended the local government council boss, Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde for the giant stride his administration is making, stressing that the court which she described as ‘modest court’ is a pace setter for others.

In his address, Hon Osunde, said that the council under his leadership, decided to construct the court in line with the marching order from the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki to have Magistrate courts in the area.

“We at the third tier of governance have been at a crossroad instituting discipline and regulating the behavioral attitude of some of our people, hence the establishment of this Magistrate Court to curb the excessive disregard for the rule of law in our society.

“We are also of the form conviction that the Magistrate Court when operational will speed up dispensation of Justice in matters that hitherto convulsed our revenue profile and also, fulfill other primary purposes for which it was set up”, he said.

The Oredo Local Government Boss, however, commended governor Obaseki led an administation for the developmental strides in the state which according to Osunde include “the beautiful infrastructures we see today in the Judicial sector”....
